DESCRIPTION OF THE DANCES WE TEACH:

Street Latin dancing has swept the world due to it's stylish and addictive music, moves and lifestyle. The various styles were all born in Latin America and the Caribbean and have been adopted by major cities around the world. La Bomba are proud to have introduced South Australia to Street Latin music, dance and culture back in 1999 and continue to nurture it's growth through the finest classes, workshops and events around Australia.

Let La Bomba salsify your soul...

Natalie Stansfield, founder of La Bomba Productions Australia

SALSA: most popular street Latin dance with Cuban roots that evolved in N.Y in the 60's. Salsa continues to be embraced by cities and instructors around the world creating new and unique styles. It's a 4 beat rhythm danced in couples. We at La Bomba specialise in the Cuban and New York styles. (circular and linear)

CUBAN RUEDA: A group dance where a number of couples position themseves in a circle and 1 main person or 'caller' yells out circular salsa moves that are danced in sync while switching partners. It looks fantastic and is extremely enjoyable to dance.

SAMBA: Brazilian carnival dance, very energetic SOLO dance, great body movement, a real work out!

AXE: fun, up beat Brazilian choreographies, very popular in South America in summer at the beach and danced in a line.

MERENGUE: Popular couples dance from the Dominican Republic that is loved all over the world. It's the easiest street Latin style to learn as it is a 2 beat rhythm and involves basic hip and leg movements that can be mastered in no time.

REGGAETON:
The latest Latino dance craze, that developed in Panama, Puerto Rico and Colombia and is currently taking over clubs from NY to Barcelona. The music's a mix of hip hop, tropical beats eg salsa and merengue fused with Jamaican dance hall. It's a HOT SOLO dance that can be danced with a partner too!

La Bomba are recognized as Australia's reggaeton specialists, having introduced the style at 3 major dance festivals in Sydney.

No Partner? No worries, come on your own as we have a group of friendly advanced students available to step in and assist us to even up numbers in all classes.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT LATIN DANCER

(These tips can also be applied to merengue, samba and reggaeton students)

We at La Bomba firmly believe that timing and maintaining the basic step are the keys to

dancing because these 2 aspects are what keep dancers in synchronization. With out the timing

and basic step you will not be able be able to follow or lead confidently. Understanding and

feeling the timing in Latin music will allow you to comfortably interpret the music and

descaragar (show off/ go off) with confidence and sabor (flavor).

When you dance on time, you will look great and earn respect from people around you,

because you will confident and smooth.

La Bomba's fool proof formula to becoming a top dancer is a combination of:

- group classes and private classes

- Watch your favourite dancers on the dance floor and pick up tips

- Buy instructional DANCE videos on the web, watch and practice

- Listen to Latin music at home, in the car, at work in the shower

- lots and lots of practice and social dancing with everyone at  LATIN LOUNGE attheStar Bar on Fridays, at the Gov, at home (anywhere!)
